It would require quite a bunch of changes, so don't expect that too soon! Before that, we have to make Brainstorm project-neutral, and before that, we have to finish the last important features. And it remain to be seen if this decentralized idea interests some project leaders... Hopefully we'll get a insight at the next FOSScamp.
A brainstorm website could indeed became a center in the development of an OSS project, but ultimately it's up to the project leaders :)

This sounds so cool. I have been hoping to see more Brainstorm-like sites from other projects and this would just make it even better! Great idea.

Random thought: What if Brainstorm sites became sort of the center of development for OSS project (with the ideas about volunteering to work on ideas) and then your idea would make it so that developers could just wonder from project to project working on whatever they thought looked cool.

Please, feel free to include the recorder program in the pygst tutorial! Note that it is geared towards cameras that use mjpeg as opposed to raw yuv or other formats (most any webcam supported by the UVC driver, as well as several others, use mjpeg).

The current situation is not that bad for adding third party repositories into the source.list: a nice GUI is available from the System -> Administration GNOME menu (software-properties-gtk). However, your system sounds obviously better. ;)

Oh yes, quite a good system!
But that mean one link per distro and per distro version. Something I like in the AptThirdParty concept is that you get one single link, and it takes care to select the good one for you. (but right, it does not cover non-deb packaging systems, and offline installations).

One option for third party packagers is to include a file in /etc/apt/source.list.d in their distributed .deb file. That way, the user gets a file (the .deb) that can be downloaded and installed without a 'net connection and you can still get those updates to the app as desired.

Launchpad faces a similar problem, which the Launchpad team I believe is working to address. Protocols for federation of specific data types, and other forms of decentralization, are being discussed.
