Hey, Ubuntu brainstorm has been launched!

Ubuntu users can now submit their ideas and suggestions for Ubuntu, and vote for them. This will greatly boost Ubuntu’s ability to assess the user base expectations, and act accordingly. Two months before the next Ubuntu Developer Conference, I think this is a great time to start gathering input and brainstorming some rocking stuff for the Ibex!

Go, start unleash your ideas! And if you want, digg it!

Update: Due to a badly handled redirect, IE users will face a 404 not found. Shall I find a bugreport? ;)

I want uPhone or KuPhone: ie Ubuntu or Kubuntu on my pdaphone ! It would be great because it still remain very complicated to sync our devices with Ubuntu.

Or at least an application that can detect wm5, wm6, symbian, or iphone device to sync them with my ubuntu.

The brainstorm site is misconfigured for more than just IE. wget and other browsers are very confused by the “302″ redirect response code, and don’t show the content that is also supplied.

try e.g. `curl -D /tmp/headers http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/9/ > /tmp/content

From the http spec, I think that while html can be supplied along with a 302, it is only to help explain the redirect, not supply the information itself.
“Unless the request method was HEAD, the entity of the response SHOULD contain a short hypertext note with a hyperlink to the new URI(s)”

This is a very pleasant suprise. Thank you!

By the way, there are a bunch of misbehaving users already (search for ideas with negative votes, you’ll find them). There needs to be a report button, I’m afraid.

Right now, the misbehaving users are being buried down 5 feet under, so I don’t worry too much for now.
But yes, there will be lot of updates in the following weeks, lot of small little things like this to handle!
